SIP home Ltd was formed in 2003 after two years of extensive research in to construction methods and performance in the UK. The research found that commercial construction was far more developed and efficient than private house building. With the ever growing realisation of the importance of sustainability and new and more onerous Building Regulations due to be introduced between 2005 and 2010, it was recognised that traditional construction techniques adopted in house building would not be adequate and an opportunity existed. The founders of SIP home Ltd, Stephen Taylor and John Cotterill decided to take the opportunity and began researching different construction materials and methods to evolve the standard dwelling house and bring an eco-friendly and high quality alternative to the market. In 2004 The Grainger Trust Plc., Britain's largest quoted landlord, bought a 49% stake in the company and has invested heavily to develop the company and lead this new innovative venture. A New 1,500m2 factory extension is underway and new production line plant and machinery has been ordered for commissioning in late 2005. The new machinery will increase capacity to produce over 400 houses per year and improve quality and predictability of programme.
