Cost comparisons prepared by our existing clients have shown that generally building with SIP’s is no more expensive than traditional building techniques when compared like for like, yet it offers many additional advantages.

Energy saving - The energy efficiency of a SIP home can offer dramatic energy cost savings over the lifetime of the building.

Reduced foundation design - A SIP home is a light weight structure and therefore does not require a heavy foundation design. SIP home Ltd in partnership with ARUP Associates can offer the most economical design solution to the foundations on your project.

Down Grade Heating System - A SIP home is around 10 times more energy efficient than required by current Building Regulations. A Building built to today’s standard of 0.35 w/m2.k will require around 50kW.hr.yr of energy to space heat each square meter of floor area. A SIP home will only require 10kW.hr.yr. This allows for a down grading of the heating system to meet the smaller requirements. A SIP home can very easily be designed to zero heat loss standards and therefore the space heating appliance can be removed all together and heating from ‘say’ mechanical ventilation with heat recovery used in lieu.

Less waste through damage or theft - It has been reported that as much as 15% of materials that are delivered to a construction site is either damaged on site, lost or stolen. With a SIP home the components are too large and robust to be damaged or stolen. The percentage of damaged or stolen materials experienced on SIP home construction sites is negligible.

Landfill Savings - As a SIP home arrives on site as a complete scheme there should be no site wastage apart from packaging materials and empty foam cans. This results in more efficient use of materials and lower landfill costs. This is important as land fill taxes are increasing.

Labour Savings - SIP home Ltd have simplified the construction process. Once the foundation, services and external landscape are in place, our team can arrive on site and complete the project within 2 to 4 weeks ready to a stage ready for internal decorating and fit out. The SIP home is designed and manufactured in the factory and can be despatched with windows and doors, and often external finishes, all fitted. Therefore, the scheme is delivered complete and from one source, which will enable a weather tight structure to be erected quickly.

The building is constructed on site using as little as three operatives resulting in an overall significant saving in labour on the project from start to finish. This is also important as the construction industry is experiencing the most severe skills shortage ever which is driving labour costs up and up.

Site Attendances – A reduced on site programme in turn reduces the hire charges for plant, cabins, security etc. It also reduces the costs of the clients site / project management team.

Realisation of Investment - SIP home Ltd can reduce construction time by more than half which means a quicker return on investment allowing for the capitol to be used on the next project. If two projects are realised instead of one in the same period of time, it means that the initial investment has doubled it’s return.

Over a period of time and on large projects this extra return on the initial investment can be significant and result in the overall project costing less than any other form of construction making perfect business sense.
